Hotline Volunteer:  Spruce Run's hotline is available 24 hours/day for anyone who wants a safe, confidential place to talk about what's going on in a relationship or about a friend or family member who may be abused. Hotline volunteers:

  • support and validate a caller's feelings,
  • explore options,
  • provide information about abuse and available community resources,
  • support and validate the caller's right to peace & dignity at home.

Hotline training consists of 12 evening sessions, designed to be both personally supportive and informative.

Hotline volunteers typically work from their homes on nights and weekends, although some choose to work at Spruce Run's Resource Center. Experienced backup is always available.

Children’s Worker:  All children can benefit from a place to feel safe and comfortable to play, have fun and have positive interactions with caring adults. We strive to give these experiences to children of parents using our services. Children's workers have a chance to:

  • participate in weekly children's group providing a fun and safe environment,
  • meet regularly one-on-one with a child living in shelter,
  • help to maintain the children's program supplies and play areas.

Children's worker training, which consists of 8 sessions, provides information about children's developmental stages, the impact of witnessing and experiencing abuse and appropriate ways to set limits and offer support.

Other Volunteer Positions: Volunteers can also help by doing office work, being part of a committee, working on special events and sorting and moving donations. Contact us for more information about current vacancies.

Continuing Education Units are available for trainings.

Work Study positions are available.

For more information about any of these opportunities, please call 945-5102.
